Christmas Is A State of Mind...

I wish we could put up some of the Christmas spirit in jars and open a jar of it every month.  ~Harlan Miller

Christmas Carols, Snowmen and Holiday Cheer were enjoyed by all this past weekend at the Holiday Open Houses we attended.  I had a great visit with my Mom and enjoyed seeing my cousin and Aunt as well.  We missed the girls who couldn't be with us.  I can hardly even believe that I'm almost ready to start my Christmas preparations.  I'm not in any hurry to by-pass my favorite holiday, Thanksgiving, but I'm in the Christmas Spirit this year.  I have a lot to be Thankful for and I enjoy making my home a warm and inviting place for family and friends to find comfort in.  I look forward to sharing some of my decorating and our family traditions with you this season.

  1. Jackie,
You're so right. Christmas is a state of mind. I'm looking forward to starting new traditions this year with my family. Each day leading up to Christmas during Advent...I look forward to a few moments of prayer and reflection. I too am striving always to make my home a warm and inviting retreat for my family and friends. Have a lovely day!

  4. Enjoyed your blog..stores and merchants move so fast that they don't even have a clue as to what Christmas is all about. Me and my family decided years ago that we would not rush into Christmas but we will start with Thanksgiving and thanking God for it as we move into the rest of the seasons. It's all about reflecting on Christ Birth and what He did for us.

  6. Randolph Mercantile. Ah yes, it's so close to me, but yet so far.. lol. Where do those lunch hours go? So glad you made their open house. I heard it was wonderful as always! I love your signs, and I may have to borrow that ice skate idea ;) Thank you for sharing. -Tammy

  7. I start thinking of Christmas round the end of November when the various Christmas Markets open. In our town we are spoilt for choice with places to go. We have a Continental Market like the ones in Germany and Sweden for one weekend only end of November and there is also a beautiful 15th century barn on a large country estate that opens for a month selling own-grown Christmas trees and with a craft and decorations market ... mulled wine and mince pies ... reindeers and carol singing - oh you've got me all Christmassy now Jackie!

Look forward to sharing in your Christmas festivities.

  8. As ALWAYS it was great seeing you and Aunt Donna. I wish we had had more time to visit. It seems like we never have the time. It would be wonderful if Aunt Donna could come up for Thanksgiving. I really enjoy just sitting around and visiting. I need more "togetherness" in my life. Hope to see you soon.

  11. Hi Jackie, you are so right! What is it about walking into a store, even a grocery store for me, and getting that feeling of excitement and happiness? Your idea of putting it into a jar is wonderful - I'd buy a case or two myself! Ciao, bella!

  12. It's fun to read your post, because I'm excited about Christmas this year, too, and ready to get started! I'm holding back on decorating, because I do love Thanksgiving and I have much to be grateful for. It is fun to anticipate Christmas though;)

  14. Oh Jackie, I love the idea of opening a Christmas Spirit jar thorough out the entire year. That is an awesome quote!

Your son is a cutie and what a wonderful shopping partner I bet he really is. I'm sure he helps give you even more of the Christmas spirit.

  15. Hi - I am very excited for Christmas, too, this year. I won't decorate until Thanksgiving is over, but I am really looking forward to it. I am really hoping to have Christ be the center of our celebrations, too.

You are in Missouri? I wonder if our blizzard will be coming your way in a few days. We are expecting a bad one today and it will be interesting to see if it picks up steam as it travels eastward.

Take care and have a good one!
